About two Saturdays ago, I heard my brother getting ready to leave. I asked him where he was going and he said to get his hair cut. In that moment, I decided that I was going to cut mine too. I had him and my six year old sister help me cut out and unbraid my braids.
At first, we started cutting five inches away from my scalp and then it hit me, "I'm about to have all of this cut off, what am I trying to save this hair for?" Then we started cutting about an inch away from my scalp off. At this point, you can imagine how crazy I was looking. I had my mom cut all of my hair down to one level so that I wouldn't have to walk into the barber shop filled with men who would already be looking at me, a woman in line to get her hair cut. I walked in there with a fedora and aviator sunglasses. I had called a head of time to find out how long the wait would be, if there was one, and I guess the barber that answered told everyone else in the shop that I was coming because as soon as I got there, they were like "Let me see!" Totally put me on blast! I've known the barbers since I was about 15, so luckily I wasn't as embarrassed as I would've been had I just met them.
When it was my turn, I showed the barber a picture of the type of fade that I wanted and he did it. It was kind of scary but I was just glad that I didn't have some funny shaped head and that my ears didn't stick out too much. Overall, the experience was great. I was satisfied with my appearance and then on top of that, I received so many positive comments and feedback which only boosted my ego more! Now all that's left to do is dye it. I have no idea what color I should do.I am open for any suggestions. Here are a few pictures…
